My Training Background:
I was born in Nottingham, England. My formal training took place on a 3 year apprenticeship at the renowned ‘Keith Halls and Barry’ salon in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, England. Their salons offer the best in exquisite training for any inspiring hairdresser. After completing my training with Keith Halls, I was asked to stay with the company for an additional year as a junior stylist. I was also selected for extensive training at the L’Oreal Technical Center of Color in London, England.
In 1986, I had the opportunity to venture off to sunny Rota, Spain where I lived for a year and worked in a salon where I serviced all of the American visitors and their families who were stationed in the military and could not speak the language. I thoroughly enjoyed the people along with their culture. They were friendly and I have so many great memories of that time in my life. I thought to myself, ‘I might have to retire in Spain some day’.
I met the love of my life, my husband Mike at the ‘running of the bulls’. Later that year we were married at the “Rock of Gibraltar” ,then moved to Jacksonville, Fl where we have lived ever since. This has been an incredible journey so far in my life by traveling, learning and encountering some lovely people and friends along the way!
I have so many people to thank for all my accomplishments. My Uncle John, for knowing the owner of Keith Hall’s salon and putting in a good word for me.My good English friend Alison who was generous enough to take me in her home in Spain and help me in so many ways. But, most of all I want to thank my lovely parents who funded my 3 year training course and encouraged my dreams in hair and traveling. I may never have had these opportunities without all their help. Thank you all!
I currently have found a home here with Kara and Company in Jacksonville, Florida and could not be more blessed. We are all family and great team players! I have been independently operating at this salon since August 2000.
